Tallest Recorded Man In The World

Robert Pershing Wadlow born on February 22, 1918 was the tallest recorded man in history. He resided in Alton Illinois and was know as the Gentle Giant and Alton Giant. He measured 8 feet 11.1 inches and weighed approximately 485 pounds. His shoe size measured 37AA (18 1/2 in.) and his hands were as big as 12 3/4 in.His ring size was 25 and compared to a normal persons 2000 calorie diet he consumed 4 times that amount. At such  an enormous size Robert's weight started to affect his health.
Robert needed leg braces to walk and had little to no feeling in his legs and feet.He was believed to have had to hypertrophy of his piturity gland which results in an abnormally high level of a human growth hormone, however this was not his cause of death. The ankle bracelet that Robert wore caused irritation to his leg which led to an infection. He was treated with blood transfusions because his organs were not big enough to pump blood to such a large body and an emergency surgery was issued but Robert still didn't make it and died in bis sleep.
When Robert Wadlow died on July 4, 1940 at age 22 doctors said that he still showed no sign that there was going to be an end to his growth. His coffin measured 10 ft 9 in. long, 32 in. wide, and 30 in. deep.

  1. Wow, I thought the tallest person was from china or something. But I already knew that something was wrong with his growth gland and sometimes height can lead to their deaths.
