Review for Barbados

On my very few trips to Barbados I cant help but admire its very beautiful scenery and all the wonderful plants and animals it has to offer. From the clear beach waters to the fruit trees everything about the island is amazing. Barbados is the place to be whether its for vacation time or to live. Its always hot but not too humid because of the refreshing mountain breeze that passes by. There are countless animals, plants, and sites to see. In my opinion the best part of the island are the beaches. Unlike the beaches of New York you can actually look down and see your feet in the water. In addition to this you can see the small fish that swim in the water right at your feet, and if your lucky a turtle will crawl up to shore to lay some of its many eggs.

When commuting its the best because as small as the island is it still takes about only an hour to travel from one end of the island to the other. The mountainous views are even more amazing. Just by looking from on top the roof top or a mountain you can see the many houses and the shore line that surrounds you. The produce that the island produces is fresh sweet and delicious along with the food. The people are very loving and friendly and the cite seeing is eternal. I would stop by for a visit any time.

What Would You Do With $40,000?

Well I'm not sure what I would do if I found $40,000 thousand but at the same time I know many that certainly wouldn't return it. Josh and Tara Ferrin, of Salt Lake City, however are one of the many few that think differently. The Ferrin's purchased the house and were excited to have a place of their own.Josh Ferrin went to pick up the keys to the house and went to look at and inspect it. When he entered the garage he notice a white piece of cloth sticking out from an attic door. He opened the door and climbed in the attic where he found a box with the money twined together in tight bundles. Josh Ferrin called his wife and then took the money to his parents house to count it. When they had stopped counting they were at 40,000 dollars and assumed there was about 5,000 dollars more.
In this photo taken May 18, 2011, from left, ...

This is where many would began to disagree with the Ferrin's. After counting the money Josh decided to contact the previous owner of the house. The house was sold when the previous owner and his wife had both passed away and the house belonged to their children. When Josh got in contact with the family he let them know that he had found the money and they were just as shocked as he was. They knew their father who had put away the money for them was a saver but didn't know he had saved so much over the years.
Although the Ferrin's could have used the money for themselves they did return all of it. This is something most people wouldn't have the heart or courtesy to do. I must say if there were more people like the Ferrin's the world would be a much greater place.

Sammy's Fish box Review

sammys1

On my 16th Birthday I visited Sammy's Fish Box. Its a seafood restaurant in the Bronx that I would have to say has the best seafood and could possibly put Red Lobster out of business. Although very pricey they are worth every penny. On my visit to Sammy's, i had ordered everything that I wanted since it was my birthday. Since it was a seafood restaurant of course I ordered plenty of seafood.
For dinner I had a lobster, a cluster of crab, three types of shrimp, and a side of ribs with french fries. the lobster was great. Not too tough but tender enough for my liking. It was well seasoned and delicious just like everything else that came on my seafood platter. I would have to say the Ribs were the best. Smothered in barbecue sauce they were grilled to perfection without being too burnt. he fries were a bit dry but after tasting everything else you pretty much get past the slight dryness.
Overall Sammy's is a great place with great food and great service. The staff is very attentive to their guests and the decor is just as great. If I was asked to recommend this restaurant my response would be "Any Time!"

Obama's Take on Bullying

Bullying has been a problem in history for as long as anyone can remember. Although many won’t admit to it or even realize when they are being bullied it talks place everywhere.  From school hallways to adults at their workplace bullying has always been a problem. Even though it has been a problem for so long no one has taken control of the situation. In today’s society Obama attempts to take a stand to bullying seeing that he too once was a victim. In his attempt to end bullying he  tries to focus on gays, bisexuals, trans-genders, and lesbians who are targetted for their differences in choices or their way in living their life.

Friends!What Makes one?

I've been wanting to write a blog dedicated to my friends because they are part of the reason I even have things to write about some times. Im not going to talk about them directly because thats not the purpose of this blog. Im writing because I notice that many people claim they have a best friend and its usually more than one. Don't get me wrong theres nothing wrong with having more than one best friend but what makes a best friend?
In my own opinion best friends are someone you can always count on. With my friends I swear I can tell them anything without being judged or worrying about someone else finding out. I consider each and everyone of them my diary's and although I have more than one I make room for all and I know I can count on them at my most desperate times of need. While some base friendship off how long they known someone I wouldn't consider it much of a friendship. Anyone can know someone for a lifetime and not know anything about them. It takes a true friend to take the time to learn who you are, accept it, and still love you for who you are despite your many flaws. On that note I must say I love my friends...So next time you call someone your BEST FRIEND, think about not only how long or how much they have been there for you, but if they truly live up to the definition or expectations of a true friend.

Nuclear Power Plants In Japan

In Japan at the Fukushima Daiichi power plant are 6 reactors. These reactors are over heated and smoke was rising from them. It is said that the reactors have high levels of radiation and areas around out had to be evacuated. They are trying to restore power to the reactors but to fix damage and get pumps and parts is very difficult for workers at the nuclear plant. Besides the power there is an even bigger problem.
The iodine levels of the tap water that is received through these reactors are measured in buckrams per liter. The amount of iodine that should be consumed by children is about 100 but the tap water contains more than twice that amount with 210 buckrams of iodine per liter. such high levels of radiation they advise no one especially children to drink the water. Government officials said especially babies who drink formula should refrain from drinking the contaminated water. Although it may not cause an immediate health problem it will over time and still should not be consumed unless necessary.

Tallest Recorded Man In The World

Robert Pershing Wadlow born on February 22, 1918 was the tallest recorded man in history. He resided in Alton Illinois and was know as the Gentle Giant and Alton Giant. He measured 8 feet 11.1 inches and weighed approximately 485 pounds. His shoe size measured 37AA (18 1/2 in.) and his hands were as big as 12 3/4 in.His ring size was 25 and compared to a normal persons 2000 calorie diet he consumed 4 times that amount. At such  an enormous size Robert's weight started to affect his health.
Robert needed leg braces to walk and had little to no feeling in his legs and feet.He was believed to have had to hypertrophy of his piturity gland which results in an abnormally high level of a human growth hormone, however this was not his cause of death. The ankle bracelet that Robert wore caused irritation to his leg which led to an infection. He was treated with blood transfusions because his organs were not big enough to pump blood to such a large body and an emergency surgery was issued but Robert still didn't make it and died in bis sleep.
When Robert Wadlow died on July 4, 1940 at age 22 doctors said that he still showed no sign that there was going to be an end to his growth. His coffin measured 10 ft 9 in. long, 32 in. wide, and 30 in. deep.

Osama's Dead?

In the past few days Osama Bin Laden, one of America's most wanted fugitives, has been making headlines all over the world. News of his death brought a sense of joy and relief to others and for many Americans justice had finally been served. Ever since the attacks on September 11, 2001 on the twin towers ten years ago, Bin Laden has been wanted and responsible for the 3,000 deaths that he caused. He was believed to have been the mastermind behind the two planes that crashed into the twin towers. He also planned the plane crashed into the Pentagon and another that high jackers were over took by passengers that crashed in Pennsylvania. With so much destruction done to the people of the United States a sigh of relief has finally been established for most. For others it’s still not safe to exhale. Some believe this is just the beginning to another attack. Although Osama is dead members of Al Qaeda still roam this earth and many believe they will retaliate at any point. As a citizen of the United States I believe the war isn't over it has just begun. An eye for an eye will leave the whole world blind. Osama was responsible for the 9/11 terror attacks and we retaliated by killing him once we found him. They will retaliate so it continues.

Portfolio Assesment

1.) Explain why or why not you were satisfied with our latest newsletter project.

I was satisfied with my latest newsletter project to a certain extent. This was because I loved all the topics that I werote about but i did lack a little bit of organization. Being that I write about a variety of topics on my blog it was hard to get my topics to relate or flow with each other into one piece. Besides my organization there wasnt many things I would change about my blog.

2.) Describe each page you wrote and explain the thought process you went through in designing each page. Refer back to the project if necessary. BE SPECIFIC!

On the first page of my newsletter I picked a topic that I thought might catch readers attention and then continued with another topic that related to my covers big headline. My main goal when I started to write my newsletter was to make everything flow as one. My first article was about an American Doll Crisis while the next article was about a crisis in Japan. I continued with a snow disaster in NewYork. My take on this part of my newsletter was to inform of the different havocs taking place in the different parts of the world. I then went on to talk about things that you could do under the sircumstances that you were in a diasaster like a snow storm.Like ice skating and going to the movies which lead me into a movie review. With my next article I went out on a limb only because I felt my newsletter lacked a little bit of fashion or entertaining news. I did a article on Lady Gaga and then a woman mauled by a dog as a closing.

3.) Explain how you have developed as a writer and a blogger.

I developed as a writer and a blogger because I enhanced my writing skills along with vocabulary over te past few months. With my daily writing routines I am able to write about various topics with great ease.

4.) Explain the weaknesses you still feel you need to overcome. What do you need to improve?
One of my greatest weaknesses are writers block. If you dont give me a topic to write about its hard for me to come up with a topic of my mind. Writers block is my biggest problem because its many things to choose from to write about its just finding the write topic to catch my attention. To improve my writing I believe I must continue to do journals like in the beginning of the year on a random topic.

5.) What do your blogs demonstrate about you as a learner? A writer? A student?

My blog demonstrates that I am a open minded writer.I dont stick to one topic and Im able to write about different things despite the fact that one topic may interest me more than another. As a student this is a positive aspect of my charecter because I am up for challenges and can adjust to different ways and styles of learning with ease.

Earthquake Causes Tsunami In Japan

On March 11, 2011 another devastating tragedy occurred which would change the lives of thousands of the citizens of Japan. On this day an earthquake occurred causing a tsunami to erupt. It was a horrible sight to watch.Video footage captured the tsunami as it washed away cars, homes, people and anything else that stood in its way. Narita Tim Johnson a citizen of the U.S who live in Japan says the earthquake was the worst. He remembers watching a big crack in the ground open up as cars were flung in every direction.
During the first day after the terrible quake rescue teams discovered a jaw dropping 4,400 dead bodies. Just 11 days later today the death rate has nearly doubled at a 9,000; with 12,645 still missing.

It's sad to see something like this happen to anyone. Its almost impossible to imagine what you would do if it actually happened to you.The first thing that always comes to mind is "What if it were me?". Just a few months back Haiti once stood in the shoes of Japan and they too still are recovering from the destruction the earthquake left behind. This is the perfect example to show how serious and how hard and long a recovery from such tragedies can be.

Woman Mauled By Belgian Mastiff And Killed

In south  London a woman named Barbara Williams age 52 was attacked by a large dog . The dog was believed to be a Belgian Mastiff pictured below.
Killer: D Bo, the eight-stone Belgian mastiff that mauled nurse Barbara Williams to death
This dog was the dog that attacked the woman. The dog did not belong to the woman but she had been the care taker of the dog since the owner Alex Blackburn-Smith had moved out a few months earlier. Everyone who knew of the dog claimed it was bound to happen. When on it's hind legs the dog towered over the fence in the garden and many neighbors complained about the dog. Neighbors didn't even want there kids outside when the dog was let outside. Numerous complaints were filed against the dog but nothing was ever done, the excuse being we cant do anything about the dog unless he is harmful or harms someone.

When they entered the house they had to use Shields to protect themselves from the dog which they described as vicious. The dog was shot and killed.

Monogamy and Pre-Marital sex

Monogamy or sticking with one partner is a very touchy topic because while many do believe in it many people don’t. A lot of people prefer to have many partners which make it even more complicated when it comes to pr marital sex. Although studies show that in 2002 22 percent of the population were still virgins and then in 2008 it increased to 28 percent meaning much of the population had been conserving weather it be before marriage or until they were older.
The idea of having more than one partner can not only be scary but it can be dangerous as well. Think about someone who has three other partners besides yourself and the possibilities of them having an STD its life threatening and scary to know as well. This is probably one of the biggest reasons behind people agreeing with not having pre-marital sex. In the long run Monogamy is a safer n less scary idea and though rather than being unsure and in the clouds. If you do have intentions of having pre-marital sex its best to get acquainted with monogamy.

Where is the manners?

So your standing on the bus when someone sneezes or coughs behind you and they don't cover their mouth.I know you know what I'm talking about and just at that moment every bit of you wants to turn around and yell, "Cover Your Mouth"! And then you have the loud obnoxious ones. Like the ones that sit all the way in the back of the bus, and although your in the front you can still here them. And all they do is yell and talk and yell some more and every bit of you once again wants to tell them to shut up. I mean everyone can be loud but there's a time and place for everything. In the same light you have the quiet ones who won't talk but in replacement they turn there music way up as if they were trying to throw a party on the bus. I'm sorry but no one wants to hear your music cause if they did they'd play their own music. And last but not least you have the 200 pound people that want to squeeze in seats they have no business squeezing in. I feel sympathetic because your that size but don't make others uncomfortable for your own selfish reasons.

Enough about the bus let's talk about everyday life. How bout people who cut lines. I have a zero tolerance for that. If I have to wait, so do you so just be considerate.Your no more important than anyone else. Starring is something that drives me up the walls. I don't care how much you like or don't like what you see, there is no reason to stare. Its impolite to stare just as it is to point. Don't point because it's said when you point you have three fingers pointing back. In addition when people step on your foot and don't say sorry I just want to push them into a wall. I mean if it's an accident all it takes is a simple sorry, because without the sorry that makes it personal.. There is just a lot of things in life that require a little politeness and consideration. It would just make life a lot easier and a bit more pleasant for everyone.

When I was Younger

When I was younger there's so many things I used to do that I must Say I still miss playing games like Man Hunt on the block with all the kids in my neighborhood. I used to enjoy playing Double Dutch on the block with the girls on my block while the boys rode past on their bikes. I remember running outside for the ice cream truck when I heard it coming. The memories of my childhood make me smile and I just which I could capture them again. One thing I loved to do was play freeze tag or sneak across the street on my bike even though my mom told me not to.I enjoyed driving my barbie jeep up and down the block an attempting to skate despite my numerous bruises. Between my bike and my skates I don't know which one was worse. The things I would do to have these experiences back. Getting old isn't all it's cracked up to be and the older I get the more I realize that a small part of me will always miss my childhood.

The Movie Roomate

I'm not one to criticize a movie but this is one movie that deserves a not so pleasant review. For my birthday weekend I went to the movies and saw Room Mate. I must say....worst movie ever. I've seen many movies in my life time and I have never disliked many as much as Room Mate. The actors were stupid and through out the whole entire movie all I wanted to do was get up and leave or yell at the actors for being so stupid. I wanted out. The movie was long and wasn't good. The commercials mad the movie seem like the best thing ever but it reLly only showed the last 15 minutes of the movie which was practically the only good part of the movie. It was so stupid. The girl realizes somethings wrong and everyone tells her something is wrong but she still continues to hang around her stupid little room mate. it was rediculouse. It's not till her friends start disappearing does she notice that something is wrong, and it's not till she's being attacked by her psycho room mate that she realizes how crazy she is. In my opinion if ur stupid enough to not realize the obvious then you deserve to die. In conclusion this is a horrible movie that you might as well wait till it comes out on tv. It's not worth your money.

The Origins Of Valentines Day

In today's society most people celebrate Valentines Day by giving out cards, balloons, teddy bears, flowers, and lets not forget the most important thing, CHOCOLATE! Even though some people don't celebrate Valentines Day, those who do, most of the time has no idea where it came from. Many just think its a day that was made to show how much you loved someone which is why its considered to be the day of Love.

Everyone has their own theory on Valentines Day.Some think its just a naked baby running around with a bow and arrow shooting people while others think it started way back during the time of the Romans. The truth of it all is that its a great big mystery.

One Theory of Valentines Day said that a prisoned man fell in love with his jailers daughter and before he was put to death he sent her the very first valentine ever. Another origin was from the ancient Roman holiday Lupercalia. This started because the festival honored the roman goddess Juno which was the goddess of woman and marriage. Most believe that a priest named St. Valentine secretly married couples that were in love. During the 3rd century it was believed that soldiers who didn't have wives performed in battles better. The Emperor forbid any soldiers from being married because they thought a spouse would be a distraction.

Even though there are a million and one theories about Valentines no one really knows the truth. Valentines Day has come a long way since the Romans and has changed a lot since then and even with all the changes the holiday is still celebrated today. What you believe in and how you celebrate is all up to you.One thing many can agree upon is the idea of LOVE being behind the origin of Valentines Day.

Men Abusing Woman

MEN ABUSING WOMEN
All around the world men are looked down upon for hitting women. Whether it’s because a woman hit them first or men feel a need for domination. Men abuse woman to show power or domination over someone. This often takes place in a relationship when a man can’t be the boss in other areas in his life, like his work place. Most of the time men are the abusers and woman still remain in these relationships. In studies it shows that most woman who stay with abusive men, are with them because they carry something they need or want. For example a man may shower a woman with gifts and treat her like a queen but beat her when she steps out of line. Most would say she's with him because he shows her affection or what she might call love with the gifts that he gives her. But on the other hand women aren’t so innocent themselves. Some women are abusive to men. They are more or less mentally abusive rather than physically abusive like a male. This is sometimes caused when a woman feels the need to be on top or is the leader in the relationship. For example a woman may be the main bread winner at her work place. Being in control may be her lifestyle including when it comes to her relationship. Woman like this often push their husbands into hitting them because they hit first or they are constantly abusing them physically or mentally by talking them down, or degrading them.

A Fashion DON'T

Earlier in my blog I spoke about Lady Gaga's unusual attire. It was unique, appealing and although I wouldn't wear it myself, I loved it. She worked it and it made her an individual that was different but everyone loved her style. I mostly focused on her shoes which is my trending topic for this blog.
Most people are aware of Michael Jordan and his sneaker line. But many are unaware of the ugly high heeled sneaks that have been inspired by theses sneakers. It is just plain and simple UGLY.In addition to this very classless. Seeing that this trend appeals to females the question remains. Why would you show up to the club or party with them on its just tacky. In all honesty why would you want to be caught in these.

Growing up

When I was young, maybe about five or six, I would always wish that I could grow up faster. My mom would always tell me "Enjoy being a kid. I wish If I could be your age again." For some reason I could never find it to be true. I only saw the good things in being an adult, never the negative. In one case I thought there would be no rules. I would run my own show and no one would tell me what to do. But now, at just 16, I know there's not much to look forward to when you become an adult. With age comes responsibility. I'm 16 and already the responsibility's already seem a bit over whelming. Should I become an adult tomorrow I would have to work, clean, cook, pay bills and so much more.Which besides cook and clean, which I do now, that seems like such a task.
When most of us look at our parents we think they have life easy.We only see the positive sides to their job. Everything they do isn't done with the snap of their fingers, which is what many fail to realize.I'm almost positive if parents could have their cake and eat it too, they would wish they were us as we did once with them.

Snow Disaster

Just a few weeks ago there was a snowstorm that hit hard, or so everyone thought. But was snow really the issue or was it the lack of preparation and will power that had many stranded in their homes or at work. As the storm progressed, came, and left, people waited patiently for snow plows to come to the rescue. But of course mayor Bloomberg did not allow that to happen. Everyone was aware of the storm before hand, but yet salt was only laid on highways and snow plows didn't arrive till days after the storm had already hit.
Everyone was affect by this storm. Many people were unable to attend work because moving your car was the worst thing you could do. Cars and trucks were stuck in the middle of the street which made it even more difficult for people to commute. Buses weren't running because they were busy being stuck any plows were no where to be found.

It is said that when plows were supposed to be plowing they drove around with the plows up. FBI was sent to the department of sanitation and found their their streets were sparkly clean. There excuse being that they were getting stuck too. Outraged is the word many would use. Lives were put in danger, and many were lost because ambulances were unable to get through the street. Hopefully Bloomberg has learned from his mistakes, and when the next storm comes knocking on his door he is prepared to take it on.

Lady Gaga's Unique Wadrobe

Lady Gaga has been known for not only her unique songs that she sings or her crazy videos. One thing that stands out is her crazy outfits...especially her shoes. From one shoe to another they all have a unique extravagant look. Although many wouldn't wear her crazy wardrobe, it is appealing to many fans.

Winter Activities

Summer has gone and left months ago. But still you can still hear people complaining about the snow and how much they miss summer. Its as if they cant accept the winter. I know I cant wait for summer to arrive. Even though it is just around the corner there is so many things I miss about it. Its as if winter were meant for animals. Like we should go hibernate and sleep until it has passed. Which is what most people do. For example, at typical day for most includes going to school or work, and then straight home to get out of the cold. What many don't realise is that just like summer there are fun places to go and do during the winter.
File:WWIP Ice skaters.jpg
One thing many teens like to do is go ice skating.Although it is mostly done outside there are indoor rings. There's skiing and many other snow sports like sledding but you have to travel if your from the city to go to places like that. If you just want to get out for a weekend and you don't like being outdoors you can find indoor activities to do. Some of these include rollerblading, bowling, going to an arcade, catching a movie, and so much more. Its all up to what u enjoy. Many college

Highlights of The Sixties

During the 1960's until now technology has made a big turn around. Many improvements and advancements have been established. All these discoveries helped us to progress in life and efficiency. Two specific thing in the sixties stood out to me and that would be technology, toys and gadgets. Some of them helped in the business world like the xerox machine while others, like the Chatty Cathy doll gave children a new way to have fun.
TOYS
